Parliament raised concern over the central government’s delay in rolling out the Senior Citizens Grant (SCG) to all districts in the country. The legislators expressed disapproval over the report of the Sectorial Committee of Gender, Labour and Social Development on the Ministerial Policy Statement and Budget Estimates for the financial year 2017/2018. Court Room One at the High Court in Kampala was a buzz of activity on Friday 12, 2017. This was because of the advocates’ enrollment exercise that took place in that morning. The Chief Registrar Paul Gadenya Wolimbwa presided over the function. An Advocate is an enrolled lawyer to the bar and can address court whereas a lawyer cannot address the court as he is not enrolled. Only Advocates have a right of audience before the court. The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, has launched a mass distribution of over 390,000 insecticide treated mosquito nets in Kamuli district intended to curb incidents of malaria in the Eastern Region. The distribution is part of a countrywide effort by the Malaria Control Programme under the Ministry of Health, which commenced in January 2017 and will see up to 24 million long lasting insecticide treated nets distributed to households. Former presidential Candidate Dr. Kiiza Besigye has this morning been arrested and whisked away to unknown place by the Uganda Police. Besigye was on his way to Ntungamo for a really on the famous My Land My Life campaign against land grabbing. He was intercepted along Ntungamo-Isingiro Road and lifted like a chicken thief. Recently, Police issued a statement that banned Besigye’s land campaign’s something he disagreed with citing that citizens are ignorant about their rights and there he will continue educating people about their rights.

South Sudanese rebels loyal to former First Vice President, Riek Machar have acknowledged losing control of Kaka on Wednesday, a strategic town in Upper Nile. Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, William Gatjiath Deng, the SPLA-IO Military Spokesman, said they lost control of Kaka after deadly clashes that last for three days in the area. “In any fighting there must be loses.
