The first lady and Minister of Education and Sports Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni has warned parents against transporting their children on boda bodas to and from school. Speaking during a press conference at state house Nakasero, Mrs Museveni also directed schools to stop opening and closing outside the ministry’s required calendar and time. Court has released two of the three suspects facing murder charges over the death of, a social worker Kenneth Akena on bail. The High Court Judge Yasin Nyanzi freed Joseph Kanyamunyu and Cynthia Munwangari the girlfriend to the city businessman on bail of Sh5m on grounds that they were mere accessories to the crime because they knew about it but never reported the matter. However Matthew Kanyamunyu’s bail application has once again been rejected. The three were today appearing in court for the 2nd bail hearing where they are accused of murdering Kenneth Akena a social worker.
Six aid workers were killed in an ambush along the Juba-Pibor road in South Sudan on Saturday, the head of the UN mission in the country said, while urging investigation. The UN did not say who the victims were or what aid organization they worked for. The Government Assurances and Implementation Committee led by its Chairperson, Hon. Latif Ssebaggala Sengendo, (MP Kawempe North) made this revelation while on a field visit to Nakeseke District on, Wednesday, 22nd March 2017.
