Senior commanders and directors under Land Forces of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) have completed a two day basic and combat fitness tests conducted at Land Forces headquarters in Bombo, Luwero district The exercise was supervised by fitness experts from UPDF’s Chieftaincy of Medical Services and Directorate of Sports. Walimu Cooperative Savings and Credit Union Limited will receive over shs7 billion in fulfilment of the presidential pledge of shs25 billon. The State Minister for Finance, Hon David Bahati said that the money will be channeled from to the teachers’ SACCO from the Microfinance Support Centre. “The resources that were supposed to go to the teachers’ Sacco went to Microfinance Support Centre on the account that it could be administered well there,” said Bahati. The Stanbic Purchase Managers Index (PMI) for September shows that private sector activity remained in growth territory at the end of the third quarter of the year. The survey, sponsored by Stanbic Bank and produced by IHS Markit, indicates that ability of firms to secure additional customers resulted in higher new orders and a subsequent expansion of business activity. Meanwhile, both input costs and output prices continued to increase. The headline PMI was 55.7 in September, down from 57.5 in August, but still above the 50.0 no-change mark.
