President Yoweri Museveni has said how he doesn’t need sensitization or lectures to understand that doctors need a better pay. Speaking while adding the Uganda Medical association last night during their dinner, Museveni pledged to continue improving their working conditions as the country targets to have over than 80,000 medical workers. He revealed that the country currently has only 7000 who are not enough to deliver quality services to a Ugandans. Teefe Trust Bank may have been closed 25 years ago but an unconcluded court case has prevented the Central Bank from fully winding up the institution. The Central Bank closed Teefe Trust Bank in 1993 over insider lending and accumulation of bad debt to the point that it could not effectively operate. Bank of Uganda officials led by Governor Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile told the Committee of Commissions, Statutory Authorities State Enterprises (COSASE) that winding up of Teefe Bank has been delayed by the case against the Central Bank. 500 Ugandan villages across the country have been connected to the digital satellite television. This is in a bid to widen the digital migration coverage and also increase access to information and knowledge for the rural poor. The project dubbed Access to Satellite TV for 10,000 African Villages, is funded by the government of China and implemented through the Ministry of ICT and national guidance. The Appellate Division of The East African Court of Justice has on Tuesday 13th Nov, 2018 consolidated two Applications filed by the Attorney (A.G) of Uganda and the Media Legal Defence Initiative (MLDI) together with 19 other Organizations. The A.G filed an Application seeking Leave of Court to file a Notice of Appeal out of time whereas MLDI and 19 other Organizations through the Pan African Lawyers filed another Application seeking to have the Attorney General’s Application struck out. The Minister of Finance Planning and Economic Development (MOFPED) Hon. Matia Kasaija this morning appointed four Board Members of the Financial Intelligence Authority. This event happened at the ministry Board room and follows the successful vetting and approval by the Parliament of Uganda in September 2018. The Speaker, Rebecca Kadaga, has commended youth entrepreneurs for their innovations and efforts geared at solving the burden of unemployment. Kadaga said that in support of such novel ideas, the budget for the Innovation Fund should be enhanced so as popularise such brands and innovations. “Government ought to increase the current shs500 million channelled to the Innovation Fund so that more youth can realize the potential of their projects,” said Kadaga.
