Speaker Rebecca Kadaga has accepted an offer to meet telecom companies and Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) over the controversial move to ban airtime scratch cards. Bank of Uganda (BoU) has announced that the volume of mobile money transactions declined by Shs672bn within the first two weeks of July since the coming into effect of the 1% tax on mobile money. The electoral commission has finally rose up and rubbished the claims circulating on social media indicating there Sheema municipality election were characterized with irregularities. The founder and chief executive office of “The Investigator”, a Ugandan online news website, Stanley Ndawula, is missing and feared kidnapped. Robert Ssempala, the coordinator of Human Rights Network for Journalists-Uganda [HRNJ-U] said on Saturday morning that Ndawula was was kidnapped on Friday night by unknown people at around midnight.
