Jinja Road Police has arrested two suspects for forging COVID19 car stickers. Jinja Road Police officers intercepted a driver only identify as Julius at the check point with a forged sticker and on interrogation, he revealed who sold him the sticker. Yesterday 24/04/2020 Julius led a team of detectives from Jinja Road Police Station to Namungona Zone 1 at Luyinja area where Dickson Mugarura was arrested at his home. Members of Parliament have asked government to come up with tougher measures to curb the spread of corona virus by truck drivers crossing into the country. During a sitting of Parliament on Friday, 24 April 2020, legislators were concerned that the high cases of new infections of the virus were being registered in the drivers. The latest infections registered were 11 truck drivers bringing the number of infected in Uganda to 74. Controversial Pro-Museveni Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Jinja, Mr Eric Sakwa, has been sent to Kirinya government prison. This was after he was paraded before court and charged with manslaughter. According to the charge sheet presented to Jinja Magistrate’s Court, Mr Sakwa, 38, between March 22 and April 17 this year at Lwanda Village in Jinja District, unlawfully, caused the death of Charles Isanga. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today flagged off a fleet of vehicles to help the Ministry of Health in the fight against COVID-19.
