President Hopeful Hon. Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has blamed the Uganda Police for the murder of devoted people power official. News reaching our desk indicates that Mr. Omara Bonny alias Masembe Solomon, the People Power youth coordinator of Amolatar district is dead. According to Mityana Municipality lawmaker Hon. Francis Zaake, Omara was murdered in Lira, Lango sub-region. Before joining People Power, Mr. Omara was a staunch cadre of the NRM Party and a member of her National Council. “At the time of his death, he was mobilizing and establishing People Power structures in Amolatar. The UK-Africa Investment Summit held in London on 20th January laid the foundation for new partnerships between the UK and African nations based on trade, investment, shared values and mutual interest. Billions of pounds of new commercial deals were announced, highlighting the strength of the UK’s offer and existing relationship with Africa. Aruu county lawmaker Maker Hon. Odonga Otto has extended his sympathies to the fastest raising political figure Hon. Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine. Eastern Uganda Districts went on fire as Ugandans protested the arrest of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leaders. These included former presidential aspirant Dr. Kiiza Besigye, Party President Patrick Amuriat among others. They were arrested as they officiated over the celebrations of FDC @ 15 in the various districts of Buyikwe, Jinja Iganga, Busia, Mbale, Soroti Kumi, Bugiri Budaka etc. See Pictures below.
UPDF says main activities to mark the 39th Tarehe Sita Anniversary will take place in Great Luwero Area. The districts to be covered are; Luwero, Nakaseke, Nakasongola and Wakiso (Busiro North). Brig Gen Richard Karemire, Defence Spokesperson, said this area has been chosen because of the special historical role the people played during the 1981-1986 protracted peoples’ struggle to Liberate Uganda. The celebrations will be held under the theme “Consolidating the UPDF strategic partnership with the people to guard gains of liberation”.
Last week the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) proposed a policy shift for government to tax the internet use directly instead of charging over the top tax also known as OTT. According to the URA Commissioner General, Ms Doris Akol is based on failure by the tax body to collect the revenue targets from OTT. Akol and a delegation of the technical officers from the tax body had appeared before the Finance Committee of Parliament when she made the suggestions.
