Uganda Airlines today morning flew first commercial flight from Entebbe to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) with eight passengers on board. The airline, which departed at Entebbe Airport at 6:05 a.m touched down at JKIA at exactly 7 a.m, five minutes ahead of the scheduled landing. Among the eight included a member of Parliament, three Journalists from the New vision, Uganda Radio Network and Uganda Broadcasting Cooperation.
The State Minister for Finance, Hon. David Bahati, has accused corrupt government officials for interfering in the procurement of bicycles that were meant for Local Council (LC) chairpersons. “Government committed to buy bicycles for LC1s and we all know what happened to the first consignment where money was misappropriated and the procurement was stopped. This financial year, we did not appropriate any funds to complete this procurement. Nonetheless we shall appropriate money in the next financial year,” Bahati said. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni yesterday received and held talks with President Salva Kiir of South Sudan, at State House Entebbe. Speaking to after the session, Museveni noted that despite a few internal elements still trying to distablise the progress of South Sudan. “I am optimistic that the reassembling of the SPLM in Juba is a commitment towards peace.” Museveni said. The Parliamentary Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) has summoned the Central Bank Governor, Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile, to answer queries of loss of property during the closure of seven commercial banks. The summons follow the failure by the Governor to appear before the Committee on three occasions.
