International Development Secretary Rory Stewart has called on other countries to urgently help deal with the ongoing, deadly Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) during a visit to the country. The Leader of Opposition (LOP) in Parliament, Hon. Aol Betty Ocan, has asked government to provide more funding to cater for the needs of refugees hosted in Uganda. Uganda Police officials on Friday clashed with Gen. Mugisha Muntu supporters in Western Uganda. This followed an impromptu police attack at Uncle Speed Gardens in Kakoba, Mbarara Municipality where the Alliance of National Transformation (ANT) meeting was scheduled to take place and ordered all participants to vacate. The meeting had attracted ANT members from Ankole and Kigezi sub region and other parts of western Uganda with the youth as the biggest attendants. A middle-aged Nigerian man has sadly died during a sex competition after endeavouring to finish the seventh round. The deceased identified only as Davy reportedly died on his sex contender also identified as Loveth. President Yoweri Museveni has today met with the ruling Sudan Transitional Military Council led by Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan at Mbale State Lodge in eastern Uganda. According to Senior Presidential Press Secretary, Don Wanyama, the group briefed the President on the situation in Sudan. They also asked for Uganda’s support as they steer the country back to normalcy. “They gave me a very good briefing of the situation in Sudan and we discussed our possible collaboration towards restoration of peace and prosperity in the country. It is a cause we shall support,” Museveni said in turn.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has commissioned Bulambuli Resettlement Project in Eastern Uganda’s Bugisu Sub-Region. The resettlement project provides homes to the landslide affected people from the districts of Bududa, Bulambuli, Sironko , Manafwa and Namisindwa. The implementation of the Resettlement Plan followed the President’s directive in November 2018 after a second landslide had killed 53 people in Bukalasi Sub-County, Bududa District. 101 housing units were commissioned at Bunambutye Resettlement Camp in Bulambuli District.
