The Pan African Parliament has appealed to Ugandan legislators to push government to sign and ratify the Malabo Protocol that would give the continental institution full legislative powers. The African Union Heads of State Summit sitting in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea in 2014 approved an amendment to the Protocol that establishes the Pan African Parliament, which now requires ratification by at least 28 member states for it to come into effect. The family of the State Minister for Water, Mr Ronald Kibuule is mourning the death of his two-year-old twins who Monday drowned in the home’s swimming pool, at Mbalala, Nama Sub-county, Mukono District. According sources, the innocent toddlers drowned on Monday evening at about 5:30 pm. Its said their mother, Ms Fortunate Kibuule, had gone to Namataba, where she supervises workers at a family’s construction site while the Minister himself was also not at the home. A proposal in the Roads Bill, 2018 to expand road reserves by 40 metres has received mixed reactions from members of parliament. During the plenary sitting on 09 May 2019, some MPs said that the proposal is a ploy by government to grab land from Ugandans, while others pointed out the importance of road expansion.
