Local media quoted family sources as saying the 65-year-old former prime minister – who is being treated for colon cancer – is suffering from weight loss, exhaustion and muscle thinning. The Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura, has admitted to unease between him and Security Minister Lt. Gen Henry Tumukunde. The Uganda police force has this evening arrested a group of the notorious Kampala armed robbers commonly referred to as Kifesi. The arrested include Paddy Serunjogi aka Sobbi, Twaha Kim Kimbugwe and Kasozi Shaffik. One civilian was killed and five police officers injured in an ambush by suspected Al-Shabaab militants in Nyongoro, Lamu County, which borders Tana River County. Coast regional police boss Larry Kieng said the slain woman was travelling in the AP security motor vehicle. “We can only confirm the death of a woman who had been given a lift by the police officers. The Director of Public Prosecutions Mike Chibita has withdrawn murder, Robbery and kidnap charges against former Kampala CPS DPC Aaron Baguma. A withdrawal letter dated 21st December signed by DPP has been presented to High court judge Justice Flavia Anglin Ssenoga by principal state attorney Alex OJok. There was no reason established for withdrawal of proceedings against Baguma but DPP says the law gives him powers to discontinue criminal proceedings against an accused person.
