South Sudan opposition parties, including rebels armed groups, have set conditions for an inclusive national dialogue process to end the over three-year conflict and achieve a genuine democratic change in the country. “Wide consultation is essential for any national dialogue to be representative, legitimate and, most importantly, effective,” reads partly a statement extended to Sudan Tribune on Monday. The Uganda police force has topped the list of Violators of Journalist rights in the country. According to the report 83 of the 135 cases of violations and abuses against journalists recorded by ‘Human Rights Network For Journalists Uganda’ in 2016 were carried out by police. In 2015, cases of violations and abuses against journalists by police were 107 of the 143 total recorded annual cases Director of Democracy, Rights and Governance at USAID Nils Mueller says there’s already 27 cases of press freedom violations this year including 11 assaults and 12 arrests.
