Tusker Malt Uganda Open Kicks off with a Bang

Kitante Golf Course was fixed for an appeal of class and excitement as lady golfers from across the continent teed off for this year’s Tusker Malt Uganda Open. They are mainly from Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda.

Tusker Malt Lager has injected over UGX 500 million to this game to show its support for the development of the game in Uganda hence showing a very high increase in cash sponsorship toward the game compared to other years.

They started at 8:30am on Thursday morning, 64 ladies played the par 72 course all through the day. At the end of day one, Tanzania’s Eaton Angel took the day’s lead with a score of 76 closely followed by Kenya’s Nyakio Agnes, Iddy Madina from Tanzania and Uganda’s Babirye Marthaon 77.

Uganda’s star fascination Irene Nakalembe finished off on 78 to put her in position 5 and was followed by Komugisha Meron on 79.

The ladies will continue day two of the Tusker Malt Uganda Open as they set to improve their scores and try to battle it out with fellow players.

Grace Namutebi, the Uganda Breweries Limited Brand Manager for Premium beers said; “The ladies are going to set the tempo for what is to come in this year’s Tusker Malt Uganda Open. We wish them luck and may the best golfer win.”

The Ladies Open tournament for the Tusker Malt Uganda Open is set to take place for the next three days as the players tussle it out for the ultimate bragging rights for country and club.
