The Inspector General of Police has made changes in three directorates of the Uganda Police Force. AIGP Edward Ochom has been appointed Director Operations. He replaces AIGP Asuman Mugenyi who retired recently. Ochom will be deputized by SCP John Nuwagiira. AIGP Andrew Sorowen has been moved from Directorate of General Duties to the Directorate of Welfare and Production as Director. Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) James Ochaya is the Ag Director Research, Planning and Development. All changes take immediate effect.
Parliament last week passed the National Payment Systems Bill, 2019, that will among others regulate and provide for the safety and efficiency of payment systems and issuance of electronic money. 30 May, 2020, the ministry of health revealed that 84 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Uganda. This brings the total confirmed cases to 413. 🔺52 new cases are truck drivers: 50 arrived from South Sudan via Elegu, while 2 arrived from Kenya via Busia 🔺32 of the new confirmed cases are contacts to previously confirmed cases.
