President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has revealed that criminals gangs have been wiped out the Kampala Metropolitan, Lyatobde and Ntugamo. In a latter released on Sunday, Museveni said the gangs had killed 13 people, injured 2 and robbed sh. 24 million in total. “20 of these groups have been arrested, 8 charged in Courts of law, four guns have been recovered, and sh.10million and 3 motor-cycles have also been recovered,” reads part of the statement. President Museveni has Saturday installed Chief Justice Emeritus Dr. Benjami Odoki as the Chancellor for Lira University and Prof Dr. Jasper Ogwal-Okeng as the Vice-Chancellor. In a move to tackle crime across the country, Uganda Police Force has effected a major reshuffle of senior commanders. The October 31 reshuffle was signed by Assistant Inspector General of Police Jesse Kamunanwire, the director of police administration. According to the message, the commander of Kakira Superintendent of Police (SP) David Wamunyerere has been transferred to Savannah Region as deputy Region Police Commander. The Minister for Security Gen. Elly Tumwine has implored Makerere University students striking over the 15% tuition increment to calm down. Speaking in an exclusive interview, Tumwine challenged the students that striking is not the only solution to the existing grievances. Tumwine added that students should adopt since violence won’t reap anything sensible. “No one should like to you that you have a right to cause violence, don’t strike, once you strike you will be beaten serious.” Tumwine sarcastically advised.

Members of Parliament strongly condemn the crisis at Makerere University caused by the security forces following a weeklong strike sparked by a tuition fees increment of 15 percent. Makerere Students Guild has suspended its Guild Prime Minister for allegedly calling off the strike and betraying the entire students’ body.
