The Minister for Security, General Elly Tumwine, who is under scrutiny by the Rules, Privileges and Discipline Committee, has dismissed allegations against him that he belittled the Speaker and Parliament as untrue. Non-Governmental Organisations, New Hope Uganda and Hands for an African Child have called upon the Speaker of Parliament to support their initiative in raising orphaned children in family systems. Former Finance Minister Gerald Sendaula, has appealed to Parliament to push for creation of a coffee regulatory authority as it considers the National Coffee Bill, 2018. Ssendaula who is the chairperson of the National Union of Coffee Agribusiness and Farm Enterprises said that the current body governing the coffee industry cannot ably carry out regulation because it’s the same entity handling the administration of coffee funds. “Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) receives funds for seedlings and manages their distribution; so one cannot rule out chances of conflict of interest” said Ssendaula. A total number of over 40 Online Media Publishers have registered with the government regulatory arm, the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC). Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi is mourning the passing of People Power supporter and fellow musician Michael Kalinda, commonly known as Zigy Wyne. Wyne passed on at Mulago hospital last night.
