The fourth Judge of the Supreme Court Justice Lillian Tibatemwa-Ekirikubinza has also nullified the age limit removal amendment. Members of Parliament have called for adequate extension services to improve coffee production in the country. MPs said that poor coffee handling practices can be attributed to lack of proper education of coffee farmers on best practices, which has inevitably affected quality. “Extension workers can go a long way in improving the production of coffee in areas that grow the crop on a large scale. Supreme Court Judge Justice Eldad Mwanguhya has this afternoon annulled the amendment of the presidential age limit bill passed by parliament in 2017. Speaking while making his ruling in Kololo, Mwanguhya said that right from the start, the process of conceptualizing, debating and enactment of Constitution (Amendment) Act 2018 that removed the presidential age limit from the Constitution was marred by a number of irregularities. “Right from the start, the Magyezi bill was controversial and paralyzed parliament and therefore its passing was unconstitutional,”Mwangushya said. City lawyer Male Mabirizi One of the appellants in the presidential age limit removal case has expressed his hopes of winning the ruling. Kampala Metropolitan Police today carried out a major operation in the city to get rid of suspected criminals. The operation that lasted four hours saw a total of 424 suspected criminals arrested. The operation was targeting criminals that have been snatching phones, handbags, necklaces and other crimes. Makerere University has appealed for additional Shs 47.5 billion to among others cater for salary enhancement and research in the financial year 2019/2020.
