Nabeta Nathan was declared winner of the Jinja east Member of Parliament seat during the 2016 elections which his competitor Paul Mwiru disagreed with forcing him to petition the High Court in Jinja opposing the results. Fan factory has suspended its national theatre shows due to the ongoing renovations of the national theatre that is likely to take weeks. In the press release from fan factory, they stated that the construction involves the replacement of the roof and renovation of the auditorium, an activity that does not favor them to continue hosting their comedy shows while the show is construction is taking place. Fan factory has however asked the public to be patient with them as they will soon communicate the date when they will resume their shows.
Phiona Mutesi commonly known as “Queen of Katwe”, recently helped Northwest University win the Pan-American Intercollegiate Chess Championships in its first season. This after Northwest swept Oberlin College 4-0. Oberlin had previously won the championships for the past four years. Opposition Chief Whip and Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda has asked government to cut its expenditure on buying, maintaining and servicing public vehicles. Government has introduced a system known as the electronic single window meant to improve on technology and also enable traders to submit all required regulatory documents electronically. This will enable them to save time and income since it is a less costly system.
