The Uganda Police has finally given green light to the Kyadondo East singing lawmaker Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine to hold his Easter holiday music shows. This is according to an April 15 letter by the police director of operations, Asuman Mugenyi. The Executive Director Butabika Hospital, Dr. David Basangwa, has appealed to Parliament to pass the Alcohol Control Bill 2016 to control alcohol and substance abuse blamed for the rising cases of mental illness. Dr. Basangwa also asked Parliament to increase funding to the facility to be able to recruit more staff to care for patients, some of whom are violent. “Mental illness is on the increase and currently we have admitted about 950 patients in a facility that can take only 550 patients comfortably. The State Minister for Privatization and Investment, Evelyn Anite has directed Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) to suspend a licence that had been issued to Israeli company, Together, to establish a cannabis (marijuana) farm in Uganda for medical purposes. Parliament’s Committee of Statutory and State Enterprises has today (Tuesday) thrown out officials from the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) after the Tax body commissioner Doris Akol made a no show. Committee Chairman and Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa noted that Akol was the right person to answer all the queries and so the sitting wouldn’t commence without her.
