The wife of the former head of South Sudan’s army says her husband has been under house arrest for months on the direct orders of President Salva Kiir. Congolese security forces killed at least 14 members of separatist group Bundu dia Kongo (BDK) on Monday during clashes in the capital Kinshasa and southwestern city of Matadi, police said. South African MPs will vote in secret on a motion of no-confidence in President Jacob Zuma on Tuesday, the parliament’s speaker has announced. North Korea on Monday warned it would give the US a “severe lesson” with its strategic nuclear force if it takes military action against it, Pyongyang said in a statement to a regional meeting on Monday. The Ministry of Education and Sports and the Higher Education Students’ Financing Board, has extended the application for the students Loan Scheme for the academic year 2017/18. The Ministry of Health has revealed the emergence of an active outbreak of Measles in Kampala and Wakiso Districts. According to surveillance and case finding reports, a total of 67 cases have so far been identified and of these, seven have been confirmed by laboratory tests within the month of July. The most affected age group are children under 1 year. All the five divisions of Kampala, as well as several suburbs in Wakiso District are affected. A grandmother and two other persons have been arrested in Butaleja district for alleged child trafficking of a 6-year-old boy. According to police, Sairuna Nabaje, a resident of Nabiganda village in Kachonga sub-county, approached Christopher Kawu and Musa Wanande, both residents of Butaleja town council and attempted to sell her 6-year-old grandson, saying she did not have money to look after him.
