The Secretary General of United Nations (UN) António Guterres is expected to arrive today in the country for the Refugee Solidarity Summit that starts tomorrow. The summit will also be attended by a number of dignitaries, including five heads of state. The State Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatization Hon Minister Evelyn Anite has proposed that every Ugandan should have a Uganda Telecom (UTL) simcard. The Directorate of Public Prosecution is blaming the Constitutional Court for the delayed prosecution of Kale Kayihura, the Inspector General Police and seven senior commanders for the alleged torture of the supporters of Dr. Kizza Besigye. Buganda Road Court has halted government’s move to ascertain the mental status of Makerere University Research Fellow Dr. Stellah Nyanzi until the Constitutional Court disposes off a petition she filed challenging the Mental Treatment Act of 1938. Uganda and China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for 3 proposed investment projects namely the construction of the East African-China Manufacturing, Trade and Exhibition Centre in Kampala, an abattoir in South Western Uganda and Kampala Metropolitan Rapid Bus Transport.
