Disturbed by reports about peace talks that took place in Kampala, Uganda, rebels allied to South Sudan’s former First Vice-President, Riek Machar responded by attacking Morobo county of Yei River state in rejection to the peace accord. The former Head of Registry at Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), Maudah Atuzarirwe, has died in a fatal road accident along Kampala-Masaka highway. The incident transpired early Sunday morning in Rwengo. At the time the mother of three met her death, she was returning from Bushenyi where she had attended a function and was rushing to be a Master of Ceremony at another function. According to eye witnesses, the car in which she was traveling overturned, inflicting severe injuries on the occupants including her brother. Members of the Public have expressed mixed reactions on a move by President Yoweri Museveni to refund the six billion Shillings paid out in the infamous presidential handshake. The money was paid out as a token of appreciation to 42 public servants who aided Uganda to secure USD 400 million (1.4 trillion Shillings) in capital gains tax from Heritage oil’s sale of its stake to Tullow Oil in 2015. South Sudanese government army (SPLA) Friday has gained control of the headquarters of armed opposition forces, displacing over 25,000 civilians without humanitarian assistance.
