The oldest University, Makerere University has decided to postpone its presidential guild elections that were scheduled to take place tomorrow, Friday 3rd February, 2018.
In a letter from the Vice Chancellor addressed to all students, he informed the students that the university has not yet been able to acquire the voting equipment that are needed for voting to take place tomorrow as planned.
“The process of putting in place all the necessary requirements for the guild elections have not been finalized especially the equipment for the polling agents by electoral commission, selection of agents by the candidates and clarity about the presidential candidates,” said Prof. Nawangwe.
Prof. Nawangwe further adds that this will give the candidates enough time to convince their voters through extended campaigns and interaction with the students.
The next election date has not yet been decided.
