Basalirwa with Bobi Wine during his election campaigns in Bugiri

Bugiri Municipality lawmaker Hon. Asuman Basalirwa who doubles as to the lawyer to the detained Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Hon. Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu has refuted government statement on the health of his client.

Speaking to this website early this morning, Basalirwa accused the government officials for playing public Relations games at the expense of the life of the celebrated Mubanda Wa Kabaka.

Basalirwa says it’s ridiculous to hear government officials claiming that Bobi Wine is fine and strong but not showing his situation.

“They need to stop playing around with people’s health, if they claim that Bobi Wine is fine, why don’t they want people to see him freely?” Basalirwa asked.

The Justice Forum party president says that the security organizations should allow the media houses to also visit the Kyarenga star to enable the world to get the right picture of what the lawmaker is going through.

Bobi Wine was arrested on 13th August in North Western town of Arua together with 33 others as the hotly contested by-election campaigns came to a close. It’s said a crowd in a procession pelted stones at the convoy of H.E the President breaking the rear glass window of one of the cars and later one person was shot dead in this whole fracas.

He was on 16th August arraigned before the General Court Martial in Gulu and charged under S 119 (1) (h) of the UPDF Act, 2005 on accounts of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. He has subsequently been remanded till 23rd August 2018. Among the other arrested is the newly elected Arua Municipality lawmaker Hon. Kassiano Wadir, Jinja East MP Hon. Paul Mweru, Hon.
