SHOCKER: Museveni Defends Controversial Miss Curvy Contest

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has gone against adds and defended the comprehensively criticized Miss Curvy Uganda beauty contest.

Speaking to the Press in Namanve, Museveni wondered how to appreciate beauty without carrying out a contest.

“How do we explain why Nalulungi is alright and Nabitege is not. Should our children be involved in exploitative appearance?” Museveni stated.

He added: “We may have made a mistake to appreciate MsWorldAfrica QuiinAbenakyo resulting in Ms Curves by Mungooma (organizer). We were encouraging Ms World AfricaQuiin Abenakyo to market Uganda. If we do that are we right? Only slim girls. What we should ask is, should our children be involved in exploitative appearance. We should discuss whether appearances are an issue.”

This comment comes days after Minister Kiwanda revealed that the contest would act as a new Toursim opportunity in the country.

Unveiling the initiative in Kampala, the State minister for Tourism, Mr Godfrey Kiwanda, said a beauty pageant dubbed ‘Miss Curvy Uganda’ has been launched to select sexy curvaceous women and the finalists will be selected in June.

“We have naturally endowed nice looking women that are amazing to look at. Why don’t we use these people as a strategy to promote our tourism industry?” Mr Kiwanda wondered, pointing at “a sample” of beautiful women at the press conference.
