I’m Going to Tarmac Bobi Wine’s Road – Museveni

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has vowed to fulfill all his pledges to the people of Wakiso and the entire country.

Museveni made this comment when he joined Ugandans to mark Heroes Day in Kasanje.

The Fountain of Honour vowed to increase youth and women livelihood programs in the area, tarmac major roads like the Mpigi-Kasanje- Nakawuka-Kisubi road, including the one to Busabala where the famous One love Beach belonging to controversial lawmaker Hon. Kyagulanyi Robert Sentamu is located.

Museveni laid a wreath on a mass grave that holds remains of 150 people and thanked the thousands of Ugandans who braved the rain to attend the function.

“We chose to commemorate this day because on June 9th, 1981, in Kikandwa, Nakaseke District, the then government army arrested nine of our supporters and executed them without any judicial process.”

Museveni said these supporters were led by Medard Lutamaguzi who had escorted him on June 6th to catch a boat on his way to Nairobi. They were arrested thereafter and executed on June 9th.

“They were asked to reveal our whereabouts or get killed and they took the path of sacrifice. They chose to die rather than betray us. It is why we mark this day.”

“And it was not just them, thousands more were killed. In Luweero Triangle, we have 33 mass graves. This day, therefore, is in memory of all those who had to sacrifice for the success of the liberation struggle.”
