President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has expressed his disappointment with people who keep telling him to leave power, saying he had chosen to keep mum and ignore them.
Museveni has ruled Uganda since 1986 when he took over power following a five-year bush war in which hundreds of thousands of people were killed.
At the helm for 34 years now, Museveni is seeking to extend his rule to four decades.
Over the years, he has faced criticism for overstaying in power yet, in his inaugural speech, he diagnosed the problem of Africa as leaders who overstay in power.
Museveni has spent almost a half of his life as president.
Addressing his ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party leaders from Rukungiri and Kanungu districts on December 14, Museveni said he was unhappy with those who keep telling him to leave power.
“They annoy me but I just keep quiet and ignore them,” Museveni said.
He reiterated his statements that he wanted nothing from politics and that his participation in the same was motivated by nothing besides his desire to secure the future of Ugandans and Africans.
