We shall Keep Adjourning The Case Until They Learn a Lesson – Gov’t Instills Fear As Ssegirinya, Ssewanyana’s Fate Hang In Balance

The fate of embattled lawmakers Hon. Allan Ssewanyana (Makindye West) and Muhammad Ssegirinya (Kawempe North) seems to be getting tough as state reveals terrific strategy.

In a conversation with a senior National Resistance Movement (NRM) Cadre who begged to remain anonymous over the sensitivity of the matter, it was revealed that duo are bound not to gain the freedom soon.

“The opposition continues to take this nation for granted, they have been indoctrinated with false hopes of thinking that talk and jump on anything for the sake of fame and cheap popularity. I’m not saying that Hon. Allan and Ssegirinya are guilty, they are suspects and they to allow the process to move normally. Government shall not compromise the procedures simply because those in custody are MPs, let them stop crying and wait till when we shall decided to free them.” He said adding that they have capacity to keep adjourning the matter until the boys from Makindye and Kawempe learn a lesson.

This comment came a while after the magistrate’s court in Masaka City remanded opposition NUP MPs Allan Ssewanyana of Makindye West and Muhammad Ssegirinya of Kawempe North to Kigo Prison over a murder offence in Lwengo District.

In a session presided over by grade one magistrate Grace Wakooli, MPs Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana will be on remand until October 13.

Prosecution alleges that on August 02 2021, while at Kisekka B Village in Lwengo District, Ssewanyana, Ssegirinya and others, with malice aforethought, murdered Joseph Bwanika.

It should be noted that Last week, High Court in Masaka granted Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana bail after they had spent weeks at Kigo over separate murder charges connected to a spate of killings in greater Masaka region, however both MPs were rearrested and detained upon release amidst tears.
