The Returning Officer Kasese District Atwijukire Ismeail has declared Mujungu Thembo as the duly elected Member of Parliament for Busongora County South constituency, Kasese District.
Mujungu pulled the majority votes in a hotly contested race that saw 7 candidates nominated for the vacancy that went vacant after a court of appeal ruling.
He floored his main rivals Mbajju Jackson Kathika of the National Unity Platform (6866 votes), Forum for Democratic Change’s Kighema Alozious Baguma (5564) and Democratic Party’s Businge Benadet (83), Mulindwa David Isimbwa an independent (2093).
