We Must Jealously Protect Tororo Rock Heritage From Encroachers – Emorimori Papa Sande

Teso traditional leader Emorimori Papa Sande Emolot has called upon the government to expedite the demarcation of Tororo Rock and other tourism facilities in the Bukedi sub-region.

Emorimori made this comment during the 2023 World Wildlife Day celebrations at King George stadium in Tororo Municipality.

Papa decried the increasing number of Encroachers, thus calling upon everyone to Jealously fight and protect the key tourism and heritage sites in the area.

“It’s unfortunate that some people have gone to an extend of claiming ownership of some parts of the Tororo Rock, something we have for long known as a public land.” Emorimori said.

He added that government should take key interest in surveying and developing these areas for the better tomorrow.

While responding to this concern, Hon. Tom Butime, the Minister of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities said through the 2022 Museums and Monuments Act, he is going to take it under his docket so that Tororo Rock is gazetted as a National Heritage Site.

This year’s World Wildlife Day run under the theme Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation.
