The Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly of South Sudan, Hon Anthony Makana has said that South Sudan is committed to paying Ugandan traders who supplied goods. Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga continues to receive congratulatory messages upon her recovery, and this time from Teso Parliamentary Group (TPG). Legislators from Teso who celebrated Kadaga’s return on 03 May 2019, said that news of Kadaga’s ill health left them in pain. The Vice Chairperson of the group, Hon. Today, Ugandan Journalists joined the rest of the world to celebrate the world Press Freedom Day, running under the theme Media and Elections in Uganda. This long awaited day started with a match a round Kampala that saw media practitioners from different media houses walk in solidarity. Kampala City Lord mayor Erias Lukwago has faulted the government on the hostile environment journalist are operating in. Speaking to the media early this morning, Lukwago stated that the laws that are supposed to safeguard the rights of journalist are being violated by the government agencies something that has rather barred journalists from reporting certain news. Lukwago added that the leadership of journalist under their umbrella body Uganda journalist association is still week to stand against. The Government of Uganda, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries has partnered with two (02) UK companies, i.e. M/S Alvan Blanch Development Company and Colas Limited who have formed a Joint Venture to manufacture, supply, install and commission multiple post-harvest processing systems. The partnership will also include delivery of related trainings and construction of Associated Infrastructure. Following the launch of the Anti-Malaria paint in Uganda, Kansai Plascon, the Leading paint maker in Uganda has committed to donating paint to schools and children’s hospitals across the Eastern region of the country.
