Seasoned Journalist Andrew Mwenda has said that the Bank of Uganda’s Deputy Governor Mr. Louise Kasekende might end up in prison if proved guilty. A senior accountant to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MOSTI) has been arrested over Shs120m land fraud. Mr Geoffrey Auyit Odongu, was arrested by Lands Police Protection Unit (LPPU) based at Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) headquarters in Kibuli following a case reported by Ms Robinnah Tushemerirwe. Its alleged that Ms Tushemerirwe bought land from Odongu in March 2017 however failed to avail her with a land title to aid the transfer process. Mr. Luzze Musa of Nansana municipality was yesterday arrested by officials from the Uganda police for hosting former Presidential candidate Dr. Kiiza Besigye at his home. Besigye visited his friend Musa, a resident of Nabweru, Nansana on Wednesday afternoon but was immediately arrested by Police and detained at Nansana Police Station where he was not allowed to meet anyone be it his relatives. Police Flying Squad Unit has arrested an 18-year-old woman Regina Nakiwu for allegedly faking her own kidnap with intention of defrauding Shs2,000,000 from her father. Nakiwu and her boyfriend had wanted to get Shs2m by pretence that she had been kidnapped for ransom. Her boyfriend has been identified as William Ssenyonga. The two love birds were arrested after Ponsiano Mbaziira, a father to Nakiwu, reported to police. Yet to be identified thugs armed with pangas on Wednesday morning hacked a businessman to death in Najjera, Wakiso district. The victim was identified as Arch Rwego, a sales manager with Boma Tiles and also husband to Dora Rwego, a sister to police CID Director Grace Akullo. Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Betty Nambooze Bakirike has pinned the former Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander Frank Mwesigwa for being among the officers that broke backbone.
