KAMPALA: The Court of Appeal early this morning granted bail to the three jailed ministry of Public Service officials including former permanent Secretary Jimmy Lwamafa, principal accountant Christopher Obey and Director Pensions and compensations Stephen Kiwanuka Kunsa. The bail was granted by the Deputy Chief Justice Steven Kavuma who ordered that the sum of 50 million shillings deposited by each convict before the Anti-corruption court to act as a cash bail in this court. South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir on Friday issued a decree appointing Mou Mou Athian Kuol as the undersecretary for the newly established Ministry for East African Community Affairs. The decree, announced by the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), assured government support to the new ministry. Mou had worked as Secretary General of South Sudan’s Secretariat for the East African Community and Undersecretary at the Ministry of General and Higher Education.
Gunmen have kidnapped five people in Duk Payuel County in South Sudan’s Jonglei State on Monday evening, a local official said. Jonglei’s Minister of Information, Jacob Akec, told Radio Tamazuj today that a man and four women were intercepted by unknown gunmen between Duk Payuel and Poktap on Monday evening. “We don’t know their whereabouts but one person who was with them escaped and came.
