South Sudan government denied that it held political prisoners in Juba’s National Security headquarters, a notorious complex known as Blue House. Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, Ateny Wek Ateny, South Sudan’s presidential spokesman, said no one has been detained for political reasons despite many claims by some families that their sons have been detained for the same reasons. Kayunga district woman MP who doubles as the State Minister for Information and Communications Technology, Aidah Nantaba described fallen Tycoon Ivan Ssemwanga as a loving and hardworking man. The Judiciary has in a fairly big shake-up, transferred 40 non judicial staff from one duty station to another; country wide. The affected transferred non judicial officers are in the categories of court clerks/interpreters, clerical officers, office attendants, records assistants,process servers, security guards (askaris)and telephone operators. According to communique by the Commissioner Human Resource Mrs Josephine Muwonge dated May 12, 2017 the redeployment of the affected non judicial staff takes effect on May 19, 2017. The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga has called for more involvement of men in the fight against HIV/AIDS. “I have observed over time that whenever we have HIV/AIDS campaigns, it is mostly women who attend; yet this issue affects all of us,” she said, adding that the, “We would like to see more men championing the cause to encourage other men to get on-board in the fight against HIV/AIDS.” Kadaga made the suggestions while meeting the Ag. Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) and South Sudan National Bureau of Standards (SSNBS) entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on standardization and conformity assessment on 10th May 2017 at the UNBS headquarters, Bweyogerere. The MoU was signed by Dr. Ben Manyindo, Executive Director Uganda National Bureau of Standards and, Dr. Mary Gordon Muortat, Executive Director South Sudan National Bureau of Standards who represented their countries respectively. South Sudan President Salva Kiir has given security assurance to the former SPLA chief of general staff Paul Malong to return back to Juba, a top state official said. General Paul Malong withdrew with his security guards to outside of Juba on Tuesday shortly after being removed and headed to his home area in Aweil through Eastern Lakes state, where he stopped in Yirol town.
