Kenya and the rich Persian Gulf nation of Qatar today signed agreements of cooperation on tourism, education and culture as part of activities marking the Emir of Qatar’s State Visit to East Africa’s economic powerhouse. City lawyer and Kamapala city Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago has on Wednesday afternoon visited Luzira prison. Lukwago who was together with Rubaga North Legistlator Moses Kasibante and the Makindye East MP Hon. Allan Ssewanyana had gone to visit Kawempe south MP Hon. Nigeria’s spy agency says it thwarted a plot by militant Islamist group Boko Haram to attack the UK and US embassies in the capital Abuja. Six people were arrested last month in connection with the plot, the Department of State Services (DSS) added. There has been no independent confirmation of the agency’s claim. Boko Haram, which is linked to the Islamic State group, has carried out an insurgency in Nigeria since 2009. Court has finally settled a long-standing dispute between Minister Musa Echweru and a South Sudan soldier Mikaya Modi Lubajo over the refugee status of the later wife. Justice Lydia Mugambe of the High Court Civil Division yesterday dismissed an application Mikaya filed against the Commissioner for refugees and his wife Joyce Kade. “Issues of refugees are sensitive. It is difficult for the application to succeed in circumstances where Apollo Kazungu, the Commissioner refugees found her legible. The Anti-Corruption Court has on Wednesday granted bail to the State Minister for Labor, Employment and Industrial relations Herbert Kabafunzaki. He was released on a cash bail of UGX. 5Million while his three sureties were put on a Shs. 50million non cash bond and besides the bail terms, the court retained the minister’s diplomatic passport and the certificate of his plot of land at Ndejje.
