NRM MPs immediately burst into wild celebration after Supreme Court on Thursday evening upheld the Constitutional Court decision on Age limit. Majority of the supreme court Justices (4) including Chief Justice Bart Katureebe, Justice Jotham Tumwesigye, Justice Stella Arach Amoko, and Justice Apio Aweri dismissed the appeal challenging the scrapping of the 75-year president age limit from the constitution. Parliament in December 2017 passed the age limit bill to lift the cap on the presidential and district chairperson age limit from the constitution after a total of 317 MPs voted in favor of the motion whereas 97 were against it.…
Supreme court Judge, Justice Rubby Opio Aweri has faulted the government for influencing violence that broke out in the August House during the Age limit debate, in September 2017. As the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Leadership continues with its countrywide party reunion retreats, police has again went against adds and sabotaged the preparations in Mubende. Today, the delegation lead by former presidential aspirant Dr. Kiiza Besigye and party president Patrick Amuriat were scheduled to meet with the Mubende district local leaders and other people’s Government officials. The magnificent and state of the art Karuma hydro power project is in its final preparations to commence and undertake third stage river diversion, on 15th of April 2019, the 600 megawatts hydro power project breathed a sign of relive and fresh air when it successfully removed the second stage cofferdams.
