President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa. Mr Museveni will take part in a SADC Solidarity Conference on Western Sahara. This conference is co-hosted by South Africa, Namibia and the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic, Museveni is expected to express the region’s support for decolonisation and self-determination for Western Sahara.
A section of Ugandan traders who were un paid for the supply of goods in South Sudan have demanded that their dues are settled by the Ministry of Trade, not the Ministry of Finance, where the Minister has rubbished their claims. Speaking to the congregation, Museveni said that the NRM government is committed to putting in place infrastructure to spur Uganda’s growth. “This is gradual but we shall get there. We started with peace, then education, immunization, we are working on roads and now these dams. The Uganda Government has assured the international community of its commitment towards Social Protection initiatives that give momentum to gender equality and women empowerment. FUFA match assessor refresher course has ended at the FUFA Technical center Njeru on Wednesday. Fifty-nine participants (3 for Beach Soccer) took part in the three-day workshop that was organized by CAF and FUFA since Monday 18th March. CAF instructor Celestine Ntagungira from Rwanda, who is also a retired FIFA Assistant referee and member of the CAF Referees committee took control of the workshop as the main instructor. Selected legislators have urged President Yoweri Museveni to reconsider his decision and assent to the Sugar Bill, 2016. In his recent address to NRM MPs attending a retreat at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi, President Museveni said he will return the Bill to Parliament for reconsideration. He said that legislators did not consider the interests of the big sugar manufacturers and accused them of having suspicious relationships with the small industries.
