The ministry of Education and Sports has this Thursday afternoon released the 2018 Uganda Certificate of Examinations (UCE) results today at Statistics House in Kampala. Speaking during the release of the results, Dan Odongo the UNEB Gen. Secretary stated that performance in English has improved. However, skills of speech writing which was examined proved difficult for the majority of candidates, especially with correct spelling and tenses. He added that the number of Female candidates performed better than males in English. The National Local Content Bill, 2019 has been presented to Parliament for first reading despite lack of a certificate of financial implication from the Ministry of Finance. The Rules of Procedure of Parliament provide for presentation of a bill to the House accompanied by a certificate of financial implication. According to Hon. Members of Parliament plan to table a Bill to amend the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Act of 1985 to allow workers’ access their savings before the age of 50. The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) National Vice President Hon. Proscovia Salam Musumba has rebuked forces bidding for opposition parties a head of the highly anticipated general election. The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), General David Muhoozi yesterday welcomed back 248 UPDF troops who were part of the second Uganda Military Training and Mentoring Team in Equatorial Guinea and 2,400 troops of Uganda’s 23rd Battle Group to Somalia. The function was held at UPDF Peace Support Operation and Training Center in Nakaseke District. Last evening, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni presided over the official opening of the new the Uganda Revenue Authority Towers in Nakawa, Kampala. Speaking during the event, Museveni congratulates URA for getting out of rent slavery. He noted that this 22-storeyed building is a truly Ugandan project.
