Bobi Wine Chops Swag, meets Katikkiro Mayiga amidst heavy deployment

Security has heavily deployed outside Bulange in Mengo, Kampala as National Unity Platform (NUP) leader and presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine meets Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister Charles Peter Mayiga.

Bobi Wine and Katikkiro Mayiga are expected to speak to the media after the meeting.

The closed door meeting is taking place shortly after the Civil Division of the High Court in Kampala dismissed a case challenging the change of leadership of Robert Kyagulanyi’s NUP party.

Two members of National Unity Reconciliation and Development Party (NURDP) dragged Kyagulanyi to court accusing him of illegally taking over leadership of the party.

On Wednesday, Justice Musa Ssekana threw out the application.

“This court declines to entertain the application since it was brought under any known procedure and secondly, it was made to avoid the time limit of 3 months within which an application for judicial review should have been brought. The judicial review guidelines or rules equally provide for locus standi and this would have been the threshold before the applicants would seek to challenge actions of a party. It is an abuse of court process,” Ssekana ruled.

He told the petitioners to pay the costs.
