President Yoweri Museveni has called on the Japanese business entrepreneurs to explore opportunities in investing in recycling organic waste management among other things, saying one of the battles now is managing waste in the city. Three convicts of the infamous Katosi road scam have this afternoon been granted bail. These include Joe Ssemugooma, the former director of finance and administration at Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), former UNRA regional accountant Wilberforce Ssenjako and businessman Apollo Senkeeto. The trio regained their freedom after a ruling delivered by the Court of Appeal registrar Ayebare Tumwebaze on behalf of Justice Cheborion Barishaki, pending the disposal of an appeal they filed challenging their conviction and sentences. MPs on the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee have put the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) to task over the recurring abuse and mistreatment of opposition politicians. Hon. Asuman Basalirwa (JEEMA, Bugiri Municipality) said UHRC needs to act on the gross human rights abuses and reign in on security forces.
