The State minister for Works, Gen Katumba Wamala, has said that the money available cannot enable the completion of the new Nile Bridge in Jinja and so the country needs more $25m (about Shs90b). A man identified as Abdu Opige has been caught trying to forcefully get money from some second-hand clothes traders in Kampala. “On January 19, 2018 one Opige Abdu, was caught masquerading as a customs officer and trying to get money from a used clothes dealer at the New Taxi Park,” the URA assistant commissioner enforcement, Agnes Nabwire said. Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) is set to demolish more than 75 commercial buildings in the central business area of Soroti Municipality to create wayway for widening of the north highway to accommodate the increasing traffic. According to a photographic mapping issued to the 75 affected landlords, the intended project is meant to expand the road from its current width . Uganda Law Society has petitioned the Constitutional Court seeking to annul it the age limit bill that was turned into a law two weeks ago. Mr Francis Gimara, the President of Uganda Law society together with other lawyers filed a petition that was against the extension of the term of the 10th Parliament and that of the local government councils to seven years. Wandegeya Police has arrested Robin Wabulembo and group on information that they were buying old car tires with intent to burn, block major city roads & junctions following the launch of “Tubalemese Campaign” by Rtd. Dr. Col. Kizza Besigye and his counterparts. Mister of education and sports, Hon. Janet Museveni has released the 2017 PLE results that were done earlier in November. According to the results, it has been noted that there was an improvement in this year’s performance compared to that of last year. “Performance in 2017 is better than 2016 expect from the division one level.
