Three dead, Eight injured as Fire guts Hima factory Plant in Kasese

Three died in Fire at the Hima cement factory Plant in Kasese leaving eight critically injured.

In a press release shared with the media by Jean-Michel Pons Country CEO stated that, Another eight colleagues were injured with one in critical condition being admitted at Kilembe hospital and case clinic, one of the companies health facility.

“Another eight colleagues were injured with one in critical condition. We hope for a positive outcome and we are doing everything to ensure that the injured people get proper medication and recovery quickly.” Jean-Michel Pons said.

Jean stated that they hope for a positive outcome and they are doing everything within their means to ensure that they get proper medical care and a quick recovery.

carol kezaabu the communication officer stressed that, by the time fire gut the refinery the Hima Cement fire responders with the support of Uganda Police Fire Brigade and  the UPDF team, were able to bring the fire under control in under one hour and we are  working with all relevant authorities to ensure that the root cause of the incident is
identified.

How the fire occurred:

A team was doing installation works at the Light Diesel Oil Tank when the incident happened.

She said the team is working with the authorities to further investigate the incident and to ascertain the course of events. Saying they will share more information in due course.

She added that the operations at the Hima Plant have been stopped as they take stock of this incident and to ensure that the fire is fully contained.

Jean-Michel Pons Country CEO shared his deepest sympathies to the families of the colleagues that passed on and those that were injured.
