ANT Founding Member Barbara Allimadi Found Dead In House

Political activist and International Affairs Secretary of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT), Ms Barbara Allimadi has been found dead in her house in Kiwatule, Kampala.
She was discovered dead on Monday April 27 night.

The news was confirmed by friends and family including ANT national leader Gen. Mugisha Muntu and Nakawa II KCCA LC5 councillor Gumisiriza Happy Nasasira, a close ferried.

Gen. Muntu, just posted her picture on his Facebook timeline without a comment.

Her brother, Miton Allimadi posted also said in a Facebook post that her sister was gone.

“The family asks that the public respects our privacy as we mourn our sister. She will be greatly missed,” Miton wrote.

Ms Allimadi, then a member of the Forum for Democratic change is remembered for being among the leaders of a group of women, who in 2012 protested half-naked against police brutality.

The women including councillor Nasasira marched to the Central Police Station in Kampala to protest against the assault of their colleague the FDC secretary for mobilization Ingrid Turinawe whose breasts were squeezed by police officers during her arrest in 2012.

Early this year, Ms Allimadi graduated with a Masters degree of Arts in Human Rights at Makerere University during its 70th Graduation.
